Mens_ConventionMens Katoomba Convention

Around 75 men from our church have just returned from Mens Katoomba Convention. It was a great time for men to be challenged from the Bible about being "Men of Service".

On Friday night John Dickson spoke from Philippians about what it means to live in the world as citizens of heaven. Instead of bowing  to the gods of this world we are to be rebels in following Christ as our true Lord and Saviour. This will bring suffering, but its time for men to stand up and "take the hits" as we contend for the gospel.

mkc2010smallOn Saturday we heard the message of Song of Songs - the ultimate love song. Gary Millar from Dublin showed us how this book of wisdom instructs men how to speak to women, exalts real love and sex within God's plan for marriage and also points beyond sex to something more important - namely relationship with God himself.

After lunch  in "Tin Shed Time" we heard 3 short and very practical talks about what wives wished their husbands understood, what kids wished their fathers understood and what single blokes wished their married mates understood.

Finally John Dickson wrapped up the day by showing us what service looks like in the example of Jesus, and challenging us to have the same attitude of humble service in our homes, church and world.

If you want to hear the talks for yourself you can download them from the KCC website. The tin shed talks are free, but the others cost $2 each. The MKC site is also worth a visit.
